Certificate of satisfactory executionCompte-rendu de la réunion des 10-11 avril 2011 du Partenariat REDD+ à Bangkok
Following two ministerial meetings on tropical deforestation, held in Paris in March 2010 and Oslo in May 2010, the REDD+ Partnership was launched to accelerate the scaling up of REDD+ financing and actions, improving efficiency, transparency and coordination of REDD+ initiatives.
It brings together more than 75 countries from the North and South on a voluntary basis and does not aim to replace the UN REDD+ process, but to support it.
As part of its 2011-2012 work programme, participating countries committed to establish and maintain a database of REDD+ financing and actions, in order to reduce the huge gap between the amounts reported by donors (USD 8 billion) and beneficiaries (USD 1 billion).
No less than 12 meetings were held between early 2010 and early 2012, five of which the expert physically participated (the others were followed by email): Paris (March 2010), Oslo (May 2010), Bonn (August 2010), Tianjin (October 2010), London (February 2012).
Participation in these meetings was under cover of the Central African delegation in 2010 (the latter being at the time president of the Central African Forests Commission - COMIFAC, which the expert supported in the climate negotiations) and under cover of the French delegation in 2012.
Nevertheless, in both cases, participation had the same objectives: (i) contribute to technical discussions on the deployment of REDD+, (ii) reporting strategic information to policy makers, (iii) contribute to the compilation of data on REDD+ actions and financing.
Participation in the REDD+ Partnership therefore required the preparation of numerous technical notes and data research before the meetings, a good concentration during the meetings to synthesize the (sometimes complex) discussions and grasp the issues for the country or countries represented.
Representation of COMIFAC and France at REDD+ Partnership meetings: Participation in meetings in Paris (March 2010), Oslo (May 2010), Bonn (August 2010), Tianjin (October 2010), London (February 2012); Contribution to technical discussions on REDD+ deployment; Providing strategic information on REDD+ to policy makers; Contribution to the compilation of data on REDD+ actions and financing.
