Private companies sourcing bio-based materials – particularly in developing countries – must now take into account several European legislative texts, which have a direct impact on their practices.
Two European Directives (Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence – CSDD and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive – CSRD) that came into force in 2024 require large companies to conduct due diligence to identify, prevent and mitigate adverse human rights and environmental impacts in their value chain, and to report their impacts accurately and transparently.
This service is part of a long-term support for a luxury perfumery player in the identification of risks relating to human, social, environmental, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) rights, and the resilience of its supply chains around the world, and the mitigation of these risks (implementation of compliance actions for all players in the sector / strengthening of certification schemes (UEBT, organic, FFL) / changes of supplier and/or supply area).
General objective: definition of the pre-assessment process and tools, aimed at remotely pre-identifying and analysing potential major risks:
- Capitalization of the 15 value chain evaluations already carried out and exhaustive review of the criteria for the needs of the pre-evaluation process;
- Definition of an adapted grid format, with priority criteria evaluated according to the means of proof at a distance, using a triangulation matrix and the scoring of the level of criticality vs. reliability of the information;
- Development of complementary tools for the remote process;
- Definition of the process steps and design of adapted restitution formats
Scoping of pre-risk assessments on natural materials value chains for perfumery: Capitalization of the 15 evaluations of natural materials value chains already carried out; Exhaustive review of the 77 criteria used and selection of priority criteria; Design of an adapted grid and methods for triangulating means of evidence at a distance; Development of complementary tools; Definition of the process steps.
