A public policy of this type needs to be steered by a diverse college of actors, representing the main stakeholders. Under the impetus of our technical assistant, Guinea has thus set up, by presidential decree, a steering committee for agricultural land reform, both interministerial and multi-actor (farmers’ and civil society organizations, private sector, local elected officials, research, land professionals).
This Committee held its first meeting on May 17, 2023.
On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock rightly insisted on the crucial importance:
– of this reform: “This is the most important work we are doing”
– and its current and intergenerational inclusiveness: it must “allow small farmers, women, and young people to have secure access to land while being attractive to large investors and especially protecting future generations”.
