"It's better to make short posts"... For once, we go a little longer, to give you an overview of the thematic and geographical diversity of our services provided in 2022. Nearly 50 services carried out in more than thirty countries. The SalvaTerra team is at your disposal to discuss your support/consulting needs in the agriculture, forestry, environment and bioenergy sectors, in France and internationally.

Algeria :

Technical assistance to the Algerian Government (Water and Forests, Civil Protection, Delegation for Major Risks, etc.) to strengthen the prevention, monitoring and fight against forest fires.

Congo (2 services):

1/ Environmental and social impact study of a major reforestation project;

2/ Feasibility study of the Sustainable Land Use Programme (PUDT).

Côte d’Ivoire (4 services):

1/ Final evaluation of an agricultural waste-to-energy project (Agrovalor);

2/ Technical assistance to the National Meteorological Service (SODEXAM) to assess the state of its agrometeorological stations and services, and to make them evolve to better meet the expectations of agricultural professionals in a context of climate change;

3/ Support to the microfinance institution Advans to offer financial products facilitating the adaptation to climate change of its clients in the agricultural sector;

4/ Feasibility study of two integrated development projects, reconciling rural development and protection of natural resources, in Cavally and Tonkpi.

France – Métropole (5 services):

1/ Support to France Bois Forêt (FBF) for the updating of its interprofessional agreement ;

2/ Support to FBF to evaluate and capitalize on the lessons of its Landes Pine seed improvement program;

3/ Support to FBF to evaluate and capitalize on the lessons of its Douglas promotion program;

4/ Training of AgroParisTech Master students on REDD+ and 0-deforestation agricultural production;

5/ Training of Bordeaux SupAgro Master students on agroecology.

France – Reunion Island :

Study of social and environmental risks in the pink berry sector and corrective measures.

France – Martinique :

Under the leadership of ODEADOM, diagnosis of the supply of agricultural products in collective catering and operational recommendations to develop short supply chains.

France – Mayotte :

Feasibility study of the agricultural development of peri-urban plots of the Commune of Koungou in order to promote short supply chains and boost the local economy.

Gabon :

Finalization of technical assistance to the Gabonese Government for the implementation of its Forest Investment Plan ( CAFI initiative).

Guinea (3 services):

1/ Technical assistance to the Guinean Government for the implementation of its Agricultural Land Reform ;

2/ Climate change vulnerability studies of key sectors (rice, market gardening, ruminants, artisanal fisheries) in Upper Guinea and identification of operational adaptation options ;

3/ Study of the agronomic and organoleptic characteristics of the Baroness pineapple of Guinea, with a view to the possible establishment of a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).

Haiti :

Studies of social and environmental risks in the vetiver sector and corrective measures.

Indonesia :

Studies of social and environmental risks in the mahogany sector and corrective measures.

Italy :

Study of agricultural water management practices in Puglia and proposal for improvement.

Kenya :

Prototyping and comprehensive testing of a new type of improved stove.

Madagascar (3 services):

1/ Study of agricultural potential in the East, along the Pangalanes Canal;

2/ Climate change vulnerability studies of key sectors in the South-East and identification of operational adaptation options (as part of the Talaky Bê project);

3/ Studies of social and environmental risks in the pink berry sector and corrective measures.

Mali :

Technical assistance to the National Agricultural Development Bank (BNDA) to offer its clients financial products to facilitate adaptation to climate change.

Morocco :

Study of agricultural water management practices in the Sebou basin and proposal for improvement.

Mozambique :

Study of the charcoal sector in Zambezia and recommendations to improve its sustainability.

Niger :

Market study of small-scale agricultural irrigation and financing tools adapted to equip family farms.

Uganda :

Final evaluation of the “Mpanga Super Farmers” programme

Central African Republic (2 services):

1/ Technical assistance to the Government of the Central African Republic for the implementation of its Forest Investment Plan (CAFI initiative);

2/ Support for reflections on the reform of agricultural land.

Senegal (2 services):

1/ Revision of the project document for the reforestation of the agropastoral lands of Ferlo (Dundi Ferlo);

2/ Study of the restoration potential of the mangroves of Casamance and Sine Saloum by mobilizing carbon finance.

Tanzania :

Feasibility study of a forestry project including the establishment of forest plantations and the protection of mangroves.

Togo (2 services) :

1/ Preliminary environmental and social impact study of a major village reforestation project;

2/ Support to the Togolese government in the implementation of the agriculture and forestry components of its nationally determined contribution (NDC).

Tunisia (3 services):

1/ Study of agricultural water management practices in the Governorate of Sidi Bouzid and proposal for improvement;

2/ Support to the microfinance institution Advans to offer financial products facilitating the adaptation to climate change of its clients in the agricultural sector;

3/ Study of the challenges of adaptation to climate change of the oases of the great Tunisian South.

Central Africa :

Evaluation and capitalization of two projects to support research in forest ecology (P3FAC and DynAfFor).

West Africa :

Diagnosis of agroecological practices in 15 West African countries and identification of financing needs to promote these practices.

Multi-country (4 services):

1/ Support of a perfume manufacturer in the implementation of a tool for monitoring and controlling social and environmental risks in its vegetable materials supply chains;

2/ Evaluation of current Fairtrade Finland projects and capitalization of good practices;

3/ Support from the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) for the implementation of tools to monitor soil carbon and soil health ;

3/ Evaluation of the 2019-2022 Partnership Agreement between the NGO AVSF and AFD (with field missions on agricultural projects in Ecuador, Madagascar, Senegal);

4/ Within the framework of COSTEA, study of the impacts of irrigated rice cultivation on greenhouse gas emissions, as well as methods and tools to estimate and monitor these impacts.

Dans le cadre du projet ELLESadapt, SalvaTerra a contribué à l’élaboration d’une stratégie de développement communautaire pour le Complexe d’Aires Protégées de Binder-Léré (CAPBL), en partenariat avec Baastel, DID et Noé. Ce travail s’inscrit dans une démarche participative visant à renforcer la résilience climatique, la gouvernance locale et l’inclusion sociale dans un territoire à forts enjeux environnementaux et humains.

Connaissez-vous le bigaradier ou orange amère ?

🌳 Citrus aurantium, de la famille des rutacées, est un agrume issu d’une hybridation entre un mandarinier sauvage mâle ♂ et un pamplemoussier femelle ♀. Les arbres font 3 à 10 mètres de haut. Il existe une belle diversité de variétés : le bigaradier bouquetier (cultivar important pour la parfumerie), l’orange amère de Séville, le Chinotto, populaire à Savone en Italie, les variétés Panachée, Corniculata...
