Context of the service

This agroecology consultancy mission led by Johan PASQUET on behalf of TERO contributed to the formulation of the project "Multi-energies for resilience and integrated management of territories" (MERIT) in Mali, funded by IFAD.

Services provided

The services provided were as follows:

- Propose resilient agricultural and agro-ecological practices, capitalised at national or sub-regional level, that allow adaptation to the expected climate constraints;

- Propose approaches to promote the integration of agriculture and livestock systems, including solutions to optimise the storage, composting and valorisation of digestate at family farm level;

- Support the social engineering expert in identifying the most relevant mechanisms for the rehabilitation of degraded land and the development of an integrated land management approach at the village level;

- Contribute to the drafting of the project formulation document, the technical implementation manual and the preparation of a detailed budget of the activities proposed for the agroecology component.

Contribution to the formulation of IFAD's Integrated Territorial Management (MERIT) project in Mali: Proposing agroecology practices to adapt to climate constraints; Propose approaches to promote the integration of agriculture and livestock systems, in particular via bio-digesters; Contribute to the drafting of the project document (agroecological practices, integrated land management, bio-digesters).
